As the need for environmental assessment increases there is a requirement to ensure that regulators, industry and their representatives are: conversant with assessment objectives; know how to use available tools; can interpret the results; understand the implications of how the tools are used. Under funding from the Natural Environment Research Council, STAR partners NERC-CEH, IRSN and SCK•CEN together with the University of Stirling, developed and ran a number of training course on radiological environmental assessment focussing on the ERICA Tool (course materials and feedback can be found here). These training courses will be further developed and run as part of the STAR project. The courses are primarily aimed at regulators and industry, and those who may conduct assessments on their behalf. However, the course is also open to PhD. students.
The Radiological Protection of the Environment training courses to be run by STAR will be held on:

Further information on the ERICA Tool
Updates to the ERICA Tool - version to be released 2014 - Amended 28 March 2014
Whilst revision to the ERICA Tool are on-going we cannot be certain that the revised Tool will be available for the planned refresher course on 4th April. Furthermore, we will not have had the opportunity to properly test it. We have therefore postponed the ½ day refresher course due to be held on the 4th April 2014.
