CEH is currently planning an upgrade to the installation of JIRA to version 4.2 in November 2010. This is a significant upgrade that includes several major changes to the way Jira both looks and works. Listed below are some of these changes and how they might affect you and your use of Jira.

Searching

Searching now supports something called Jira Query Language (JQL) to allow much greater control over how you find issues.

Dashboard

  • Gadgets

NEW - Industry standard OpenSocial Gadgets can be added to dashboards. Out of the box there are 29 different gadgets that can be added these include a variety of charts and reports.

NEW - 'drag and drop' dashboards can be shared more easily

NEW - Improved User Interface design

  • NEW dropdown menus for Dashboards, Projects and Issues
  • NEW in 'issue browse screen' fast 'Create Issue' button
  • NEW Activity Stream tab which provides an audit trail of actions undertaken

NEW - Search function using JQL (JIRA Query Language) and utilising auto complete to help users to learn JQL quickly

NEW - Filters can be saved in gadgets on your dashboard(s)

NEW - New 'Views' dropdown which allows users to view a filter in a variety of ways for example the filter can be saved as a chart and saved to your dashboard
